Dear Valued Clients,
As we monitor the pandemic conditions here in Wisconsin, we would like to update you on how we, as a non-essential business, will continue to work with you while adhering to Governor Evers’ “Safer-at-Home” order. As of today, our Brown Deer office is closed until we can re-open. We apologize for any inconvenience due to this situation which is beyond our control. Here is some information to look over as we move forward.
To begin with, we would like to confirm that as of yesterday, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue has joined the IRS in pushing back the filing deadline to July 15th, 2020. This is an automatic extension for everyone who has yet to file. In addition, first quarter estimated tax payments have also been delayed until that date, interest free.
There are a few categories in which you may find yourself at this time with regards to taxes:
- You have already submitted your tax documents to our office – Our accountants will be working from home to complete your tax return, but it may take more time than anticipated. We ask for your patience and confidence as we try to make the best of this situation. If the accountants have any questions regarding your return they will call or email you. When your return is finished, our office coordinator will call you with the results and arrange how to obtain finalizing signatures and payments in a way that adheres to the “Safer-at-Home” order. All hardcopy documents which have been provided to us will be stored for pickup after the high risk of spreading the virus has subsided and we are allowed to re-open.
- You have not yet submitted your tax documents to our office – For the time being we would suggest that you not rush to gather your documents since the deadline has been extended. Once we are able to re-open our office, then we will send out another update to advise on how we will proceed. If, however, you would still like to get the process started, we can only offer digital service at this time. This means that your documents would either need to be emailed, uploaded to the secure portal, or faxed over to us. No new paper documents will be processed at this time so please do not drop anything off or mail anything to our office as it is closed. If you would like to email your documents or if you would like more information about the secure portal, please contact our office coordinator (email@example.com).
- You have already had your tax return filed – Please disregard this email as it is simply being sent en masse to everyone in our database.
We understand that these are unnerving times, but we are working diligently to put you at ease when it comes to this aspect of your ever-changing life amidst the pandemic. If you would like to contact anyone at our office, we ask that you send an email and he/she will respond as quickly as possible.
